Have one in the fridge that I need to use in something!

Yes it will be great!

Why not? Always put onion and garlic in, which are members of the same family!

I always do . i love leeks. Or you can leave it and use it for something else - add to a soup ; add to pasta with cheese or creamy sauce with or without bacon.

yep - I always bulk out most things I make - it makes it go further and adds to the flavour. I often use leeks in place of onions as they have such a yummy nutty taste when softened in oil or butter.

Yes the more veg the better IMO.

nannyL · 06/11/2008 19:23

Yes

i regularly have and do almost all the time... also any colour pepper goes in or celery

whizz it all in a magimix so same size small bits of veg.

GrimmaTheNome · 06/11/2008 19:30

yes. Or I'd soften it with bacon bits and garlic, add courgette and serve with penne and parmesan. (good standby pasta when you don't have mince or time for bol.)

Aitch · 06/11/2008 19:31

courgette and leek? it's not bolognaise...

Aitch · 06/11/2008 19:31

yep grimma's recipe sounds nice.

Earthymama · 06/11/2008 19:32

Any veg you have in works usually.....I love leeks when I'm poorly with carrots, potatoes and bouillion.

Mind you I am Welsh!!

Mercy · 06/11/2008 19:32

No

Unless it was pureed

SexyDomesticatedDad · 07/11/2008 15:58

Yes, chop any of the various above veg small and make sure you give it a good fry in olive oil at start - its not strictly blognaise but is delish!

SoupDragon · 07/11/2008 16:00

I do this regularly, especially if I have no onions. Chop it up nice and small.

SoupDragon · 07/11/2008 16:01

I do bolognaise like that - it's kid bolognaise and gets extra veg into them!
