Can I make a freezable batch of simple pasta sauce with passata but no tinned toms?

Have found a tin of passata in the cupboard and have some veg in the fridge - am thinking of making a batch of pasta sauce for DC's that I can freeze. Do I need to have tinned toms? Also, when reheating, do I have to defrost first or can I just blast in the microwave? TIA

Passata will do fine in place of tinned toms. Freezing no prob and I would just blast in micro. Not if I had added meat though would defrost slowly then.

no.

Use passata in place of tinned toms.

If just veg in it (i.e. no meat/fish) you can defrost either in microwave or in pan.

Passata is basically the same as tinned toms that have been put thrugh a blender anyway, right?
