I was so determined to make Parkin and I haven't got any treacle.

Then the recipe says to keep for a day before eating! Damn.

Do you think Ocado will bring me a tin of treacle before 2.20pm if I ask nicely?

Can you share your parkin recipe please?

I haven't made it yet and it is from a magazine.

Grease and line a 20cm sqaure cake tin. Preheat the oven to 180C, 350F, Gas 4. Sieve 225g/8oz self raising flour and 20ml/4tsp ground ginger in a bowl. Stir in 225g/8oz medium oatmeal. Melt 225g/8oz butter, 225g/8oz light soft brown sugar, 115g/4oz treacle and 115g/4oz golden syrup in a large pan. Beat together 150ml/ quarter pint of milk and 2 eggs. Beat the 3 mixtures together well. Pour into the tin. Bake for 1 hour or until a skewer comes out clean. Keep for at least 1 day and then cut into pieces.
