I want to make a chocolate and coconut cake, how best to do it?

I've got a recipe that I've found for coconut cake but I like the idea of combining it with chocolate some how. Would it be best to add chocolate chips? Coco powder or a chocolate frosting? And does any one have a fool proof recipe for chocolate frosting if so? I have a bar of G&B milk chocolate and probably half a tube of G&B coco.

You don think the chocolate is going to overpower the coconut? Possibly for that reason, I think a nice chocolate frosting, with dessicated coconut sprinkled on top. Hint of orange or rum in the frosting, methinks.

I dont make frosting with that, I make it with icing sugar, cooking margarine, and cocoa, and a tablespoon of hot coffee, so I cant help with that.

Hmmm, maybe, I was going for a Bounty type taste ! Thanks for the hint re: frosting.

Yes, that is why I changed my tack, I too thought of bounty. I think it will work if you have A LOT of coconut, rather than a sponge with a little coconut, if you see what I mean.

I am making a lime and coconut cake this morning - might try adding chocolate next time!
