Just don't want to poison anyone in my already poorly house (cats included ).
Am making chicken & mushroom casserole in the slow cooker. Just browned the (previously frozen) chicken, vegetable stocky bit done last night. DD & i going out soon, nee DH to put all in to cook about 1pm. Confused about what to do with chicken in the meantime, cos my book says : "do not allow food to reach room temp before cooking" AND "do not return ready cooked meat or poultry to fridge for cooking later"....
So, what the hell do i do with it? Or am i just being thick

I would put it on low now, the beauty of slow cookers to me is that it doesn't matter if they cook for longer.

Will that not make the chicken dry tho?

I agree, stick it in the slow cooker and leave it. Slow cookers are fab.

Oh managed that twice

No it won't make it dry, not in my experience anyway. Slow cookers are at such a low heat.

Right, will do. DH dying in bed now, so can't trust him to put it in at all if i leave him to it!
