Made some divine cookies this morning(hazelnut & choc chunks) & they are to die for!! Really pleased with self as not much a cook & so easy to do.

There is a great site called www.traybakes.co.uk. They have a lot of recipes - some ones you have to bake other you don't. Have a look and see. I wish I could make shortbread - mine turns out like rock cakes!!!

MamaG's recipe is SO easy concepta, you cant fail. I might be able to do a link now my browser is working properly.

Dippydora + MamaG. Shortbread turned out nice. Much nicer than the rock cake variety that I have made previously. Thank you both.

Hobnob Recipe

Ingredients

8oz sr flour
8oz sugar
8oz porridge oats
8oz margarine
1tbsp golden syrup
1tbsp hot water
1/2 tsp bic soda

Instructions

Mix the flour, oats and sugar, melt marg, syrup and water in a pan. Stir in bic soda and add to dry mix.

Then mix well and make into smallish balls which you then put on a greased tray and flatten slightly with a fork. Put in the oven at 180 degrees C for 15 mins... and cool on the tray. The aim is to get them golden in the oven not brown.

I challenge anyone to make this recipe and not polish off every last biscuit within 24 hours. I make it with brown sugar and try my best to leave them slightly chewy. Important to heed the advice about colour - brown = overcooked!
