Can I have a vote on the best breadmaker. I've had 3 in the past and they all had to go back...

The last one I tried was about 3 years ago. With each one, they started off great, then after a couple of months the bread would come out not as well risen.

I wasn't doing anything different honest!

I'm thinking of getting one and having another bash at it.

Which one would you recommend that consistently does good bread?

I've heard v. good things about Panasonic. can look up Which if you want - have to go and get another warm jumper!

I've got that but I've never got a good loaf out of it-think it is me but have been trying for three months and am still on shop bought.

Have to say that a Kenwood chef, a bit of time planning and an oven does a pretty good job...

Panasonic - can't remember the model number, but mine is the same as the one with the raisin dispenser (but doesn't have one - if that makes sense?).

Had if about 5yrs now and it still produces fabulous loaves.

Careful of which best buys though - as they balance price and value for money with quality, so a which best buy is not necessarily the best one, iyswim. it's just the one they think is reasonable quality AND reasonable price.

My Panasonic 255 is utterly reliable.

But a lot depends on the flour.

oh yes the flour you use can make a huge difference.

I had a Morphy Richards for years which was great (and is still going strong - I gave it to my mum). Now have the Panasonic which is even better. Though it cost twice the price, so it should be.

So it seems the Panasonic one is a good one.

When I had my other ones, I used Waitrose organic bread flour, but it didn't make any difference. It was just so odd that the machines worked fine for a while, then just stopped working as well

Will google the Panasonic one.

Hab - the timeplanniong bit is the bit why I'm going to resort to a bread maker. My saturday morning end up in being tied to the house or forgetting the bread!

I have the panasonic one - it is 6 years old and going strong. Great loaves. Fresh yeast makes a difference too if you can get it

Don't get the Anthony Worral Thompson one -MIL has it and its crap IMO (and in her opinion) -top of bread comes out pale and uncooked ooking, crust around sides but not top etc.

We have an old Morphy Richards one that someone gave us when they upgraded theirs and its fab.

I keep hearing positive things about Morphy Richards ones and, of course, Panasonic which used to be the only ones worth getting.

Well, yes, Kew, and if you knew me in real life you would mock me even using the words time and planning in the same sentence!

Norbert, the Anthony Worral Thompson bread maker was one of the three I had that had to go back, I agree it wasn't very good in the end.
