blast it in the microwave to within an inch of its life

HardcoreEnid · 09/03/2005 11:56

I would have had it by now.

Curry at 10.30am is my fave food.

WideWebWitch · 09/03/2005 11:56

So you reckon as long as it's hot, should be ok? Remeber reading long explanation her as to why re heating rice = bad.

You can re-heat cooked rice, provided that it has been refrigerated properly and is less than two days old. We do it often, with no ill effects. [I read recently that it should be refrigerated once it has cooled down, because it attracts bacteria very easily.]

HardcoreEnid · 09/03/2005 11:57

leftover rice=bad as rice can contain toxins that can't be killed by heat

but I always do it - must admit, not for the dds though

I often reheat rice dishes such as jambalya. Use the microwave and make sure it gets very hot right through.

WideWebWitch · 09/03/2005 12:00

Thank you. It is getting 3 minutes on high in an 800w microwave as I type. Oo beeps, must go!

I know from hmb and Mr Moo that rice does have risks when re-heating but Asian people do it all the time mostly not even heating it past barely warm and my MIL has never heard of anyone getting poisoned fromr rice even in the days before refrigeration

Thanks all, just spoke to dp who took some to work and microwaved it too so we'll either both be ok or not tomorrow! It was lovely.
