Would you use eggs two weeks over date if they'd been refrigerated the whole time??

Need to make a cake and the only eggs I've got are over date.

WWYD?

As someone who ate an egg that had been sitting hardboiled in the fridge for four weeks I would say put them in the cake.

no way!

Has no-one else on this thread ever eaten a stale egg and ended up feeling really awful? Perhaps I'm ultra sensitive to them or something - IME an egg can look and smell and taste more or less ok but there's a particular sick liverish feeling you get from eating old eggs.

girlandboy · 17/10/2008 10:32

Well, have you cracked them yet? Or have you fainted with the smell?

i would use. but would do the water test first and definutiely crack them into a separate bowl before adding

Hi all!! Well the eggs were fine!

Did the float test on all of them and cracked them open, no smell, beat them and they didn't go funny when I made the cake with them.

We even ate raw cake mix and neither of us got sick, soo all in all, a resounding success!

Cake tasted great too. Thanks to all who posted advice.
