chicken stock - can I make this with an uncooked carcass?

In a recession stylee, I have two chicken carcasses from the butcher (legs and breasts removed, but still some meat on - and just 50p!).

Normally I make chicken stock with the remains of a roast. But I can just boil these up, can't I? Or do I need to roast them first?

you can but it would probably taste better if you roasted them for a bit first.

No need to roast first - many chefs say to use a raw carcass. Just add chooped up onions, carrots maybe leeks / celery, bung in some herbs & seasoning - cover with water and then bring to boil and simmer for at least an hour. You can strip off any meat left on - the 'oysters' are the two bits on the underside of the chicken and have quite a bit of meat on them.
