I posted on the M&S milk is rubbish thread yesterday about this but I am so incensed I think it deserves a thread of its own. I bought a box of red and white seedless grapes in M&S yesterday - I buy them a lot - square plastic box, red and white grapes. I think they are usually just over £3 a box.
The box was marked "Half Price" with a sticker (but no price on the box, as is M&S's wont). When I got home I looked at the receipt and I had been charged £3.29. The sods, I though - they have not taken 50% off.
So I went back today to complain. But apparently - that is half price Now there is no way I have ever paid over £6 for 600g of grapes - and I said so. Woman said sorry, but that is the current price.
So it sounds to me like they have doubled the price, in order to have a "half price offer" which reduces them to the price you would normally pay.
