Don't know what I was thinking of, but I picked it up in Tesco. How do I cook it and what do I serve it with, do I slow cook it in the slow cooker like a casserole or roast it with potatoes?

HELP.

You can roast it or casserole it whatever you want

hang on, let me dust of my mighty reference book and have a shufti...

According to The joy of Cooking, you can roast it, covered in strips of thin bacon and with the cavity stuffed with stuffing, at 180°C for one hour breast down, then turn it breast side upp and roast for another hour, basting every half an hour.

This seems an awfully long time to me , I'd be inclined to just treat it like a chicken and keep checking if it is cooked by the juices running clear.

It does seem like a long time for a bird that looks as though its very malnourished, it hardly has any meat

Thanks for looking it up I appreciate it, will treat it like a chicken.

The book was published in 1931 (I inherited it from my Grandmother) perhaps the birds where fatter and bigger in those days?

It does say you can treat any bird like you would a chicken though.
