Mince and onion pie recipe anyone?

Does anyone know how I'd go about making a mince/onion/gravy type pie?

Would you use shortcrust or puff pastry?

Pastry base or would it go soggy?

I'd make the base just like I would a shepherd's pie fillig: mince, onion, garlic, flour, water, worcester sauce, salt, pepper and a stock cube.

Then I'd fill the pie dish with the filling (just like for a shepherd's pie) and top it with a pre-baked lid of puff pastry that' I've already cut to size and baked in the oven. This way there is no soggy pastry and it's not too heavy with lots of shortcrust pastry.
