Is it ok to use butter cream on the top of a cake?

I've got a recipe for a cake I've used before, it's pretty fool proof, but I want icing on the top of the cake as well as butter cream in the middle, can I make a bit extra and put it on top or will it be too sickly?

I think it would be yummy, but then I don't think you can ever have too much.

And no, I didn't namechange!

Yes, yummy!

Are you just biased or is that the general opinion?

Oh goody, I've got lots of nice iced flowers and decorative bits which might look odd on an un-iced cake.
