Help! My chocolate cake won't fit in a tin, will it keep until tomorrow in the fridge??

Have just spent the entire evening attempting to make a chocolate hedgehog cake for DS's birthday party tomorrow. It looked so easy on the recipe, but now I have an aching back, chocolate all over the kitchen and a cake that looks like a very scary hedgehog!

And now I've realised I've made it too tall so it won't fit into the tin is was going in. Is my best option to put it into the fridge until tomorrow? Or would it be better to try and cover it with foil or something (and risk knocking all the chocolate button spikes off!) - and if its not in the fridge won't the buttercream go funny??

I am definitely buying a cake next year.

Make a dome with foil. It will be fine. Do you have a cool place in your house, a porch or something, where you could pop it?

will it fit in bread bin?

We don't have a bread bin I'm afraid.

So it would be better in a cool place rather than in the fridge? Problem is the whole house feels really hot this evening!
