My mum used to make mini bakewells when I was a kid - anyone want to help me with a recipe?

NOT cherry bakewells - we called them Jammy Buns.

They were basically very simple Maid of Honour cakes - bottom made of pastry cut out with a cutter, then a blob of jam, then cake mix on the top. All baked together, no blind baking.

Any ideas? TIA

I do these, mini ground almond tarts but it is basically a bakewell tart recipe I adapted,
pastry case bottom, teaspoon of jam, and then topping of

4oz ground almond
4oz caster sugar
2oz butter softened
2 beaten eggs
1/4 tsp almond essence (think I use more)

Beat the filling together and then spoon over jam cases, this quantity should make 24 tarts
Bake at about 180/190 for 15-20 mins till pale golden on top, bit of icing sugar sieved on top to serve

Cant remember exactly the temperature and times as I adapt a full size tart recipe for this but I think it is about right,....

let me know if any problems...
