Kids Menus in Restaurants

Have just returned from a week in Ireland where we ate out nearly every night. Was very disappointed with kids menus in pubs and restaurants which offered a choice of sausages or chicken nuggets only. Please tell me that kids eat other things too!
Even in a nice fish restaurant there was no fish option for the kids. When I asked one place to half an adult lasagne for the 2 kids they did it but charged me adult price less 40% for both(tiny portions) rather than one adult portion.
This is just as much of a problem in the UK and I would be interested to know whether it bothers other mums.

That only works for those with more than one child though; not suh option for us with just the one child.

Most decent pub restaurants will do half portions of most things on the menu - whenever DS (5) gets one he seems to get basically an adult portion, on a cold plate, for half price. For DD (21mths) we just ask for a side plate and she has bits of everyone else's food - have never been charged for that.

Must say that Frankie and Benny's have a antastic kids menu and its excellently priced too. They have abot 8-9 choices on 1 menu and it costs £3.95 which included a drink and a pudding for them. For older kids i'm sure its £6.45 again they have large selcetion too
