CUPCAKES-the world has gone Cupcake mad............

jenk1 · 05/07/2008 11:42

why are people so obsessed with cupcakes?
Every magazine i seem to open has a reference to them, from heidi kulm buying posh and her family a years supply and then the Sex and the city film and now last week in my local rag, a school friend of my sister who trained as a chef is now just making cupcakes.

But cupcakes have been round for years, so why the sudden interest?

ive always made them.........

lol. they were cheapo camping tables for 13 quid each, plus an old ikea kids table and a coffee table i think... all covered with dinosaur plastic table coverings from john lewis. dinosaur paper plates, cups, napkins, blowers and hats, all from ebay (gotta love ebay for stuff like that) and i bought () about 20 little plastic chairs from a toy shop for 3.99 each.
wanna borrow then? i need to lend them out to justify expense

I don't dislike bunting at all, it just makes me smile more now, after those threads.

If you want things with cupcakes on, how about this stuff from 'Hot Paws and Trogg' - lovely things, especially the kitchen stuff. But definitely in the 'Bunting and Cupcake' class.

Slubberdekangaroomurderer · 05/07/2008 13:48

jenk - imaginative icing. I only went in to buy a black icing felt tip pen doobery, and I seem to have spent £21.

Love2bake · 05/07/2008 13:52

I admit it.....I am cupcake mad!!!

Love them, and that bag is soooo cute.

mrsmalumbas · 05/07/2008 14:10

I think the expression "on trend" is in fact very "off trend".

Aren't fairy cakes, strictly speaking, the ones where you cut a little slice off the top and then make "wings" out of them, fixed in place by buttercream? (or are they in fact butterfly buns?).

I love mine small, with white icing and those little silver balls on. Very 1970's.

PeachyHidingInTheShed · 05/07/2008 14:36

theya re butterfly cakes for deffo

MIL specialises in all things icingy, I know my cakes LOL (and squires kitchen make a fortune out of flogging her online icing gimmicks I reckon)

ChanJackieTylerNo · 05/07/2008 14:51

But those little silver balls do your teeth in, mrsmalumbas - I always forget, and try to crunch them.
