Hi all
My DS cannot eat dairy, gluten or soya, but I would like to get him some chocolate for Christmas.
He did used to tolerate soya, but now that's a no no, I'm struggling to find anything suitable.
Thanks.

NOMO (No Missing Out)

No Whey! Foods

Pascha Organic Chocolate

Enjoy Life Foods

Some of the brands we buy.

On the Ocado website you can filter by multiple allergens - they have a good selection of NOMO and Moofree as well as others. NOMO do an advent calendar

Some lovely Rye bars are dairy, gluten and soya free

Any good quality dark chocolate will be dairy, soya, and gluten free, surely?
You could melt some down to make your own chocolate bark and drizzle it with coloured icing or glitter to make it more festive.

lecossaise · 26/10/2026 19:18

Isn't most dark chocolate naturally all of these? Or do you mean 'milk' chocolate specifically?

Truinio · 26/10/2026 19:20

Any chocolate that isn’t milk chocolate. Chocolate doesn’t contain soya or gluten. It’s literally just cocoa solids, cocoa butter, and sugar.

Hi all, thanks for the replies. I think I was getting confused as I have been looking at chocolates, not just bars, and its these that have the other ingredients. . As you say, the bars are suitable so I will just stick to those.

Just a heads up as well — worth reading the ingredients even on plain dark chocolate, as soya lecithin sneaks into loads of them. The free-from aisles have a few bars that cover all three, and most of the big grocery sites let you filter by allergen which saves standing in the aisle squinting at tiny print. Hope he gets a lovely stash for Christmas!

BigWig78 · 27/10/2026 06:29

As a pp says soya lecithin gets in quite a few things you’d not expect.

For chocolate deffo NOMO or moo free stuff, you get selection boxes too. I know people are saying dark chocolate but most kids don’t like the bitterness of this.

Hotel chocolat does a lovely advent calendar (DS gets it every year now) and Asda often has small cartons of long life chocolate oat milk I keep in the cupboard to make hot chocolate over winter (the dairy free whipped cream can is nice and marshmallows are safe).

I would say Nomo and Moofree are "every day" chocolates. You can pick them up in any supermarket and are ok quality.

If you're looking for something a bit different and a bit more of a treat that he wouldn't pick up with his weekly shop, have a look at...

Rhythm 108
Ombar
Mummy Meegz (they do the best Lindt ball equivalents!)

They do various ranges so check ingredients of the individual items but you should be good with most of these.

There is another brand called Catherine's which may be worth a look (they do a Toblerone type which is amazing) but I think they may contain soy as an ingredient.

Noscrubss · 27/10/2026 07:04

I did a quick Google and it looks like most of the Nomo chocolate doesn't have soya in the ingredients but they don't label as "soya free" as they do manufacture a dark chocolate bar that has soya in

Personally I tolerated a risk of cross contamination but everyone's risk threshold is different

If you want a box of chocolates rather than a bar, all Booja Booja chocolates are dairy, gluten and soya free. They're quite expensive but so good.

Thank you so much, I will be checking these out. I'm happy I can at least get something nice for him as he has a sweet tooth.

Thank you for the info. I did call into Hotel Chocolate and was told they aren't allowed to say anything is gluten free, which threw me as he definitely can't risk it.

Most supermarkets have a considerable free from section these days. I am lactose intolerant and love moofree and Nomo chocolate.
