Chicken legs - airfryer or slow cooker only

Hi, I unexpectedly have a lot of chicken legs to use up - anyone have any ideas for these in the airfryer or slow cooker? Thanks so much it’s the first time I’ve been without an oven for a while so am nervous!

Are they bone in? I dont know why but I found the bones crumbled whenever I slow cooked chicken with the bone in

Otherwise I would slow cook, with liquid and then the liquid turns into broth which you can also use for soup.

I do this a lot in batches and just keep cooked chicken in the freezer, chuck it into anything.

Airfryer would be lovely! In fact Ive just done some sprinkled with the M&S piri piri seasoning and they were absolutely yum.

I like legs or thighs cooked very slow so air fryer is fine as long as you set it on its lowest setting, maybe put some liquid in the base of the pan as well so they semi steam, my air fryer goes down to about 140 I think.

Thanks all - for the airfryer suggestions @likelysuspecthow long did you cook them for? And @Scuttlingupaboveat what temp? X

Cut them into thigh and drumstick, and air fry. Sprinkle with salt and seasoning. If you like crispy skin, 180 degrees until they are 71 degrees inside. Chicken thighs are our current ‘easy tea’ with salad and carbs.

I put it on the drumstick setting which I think is 200c. I like very crispy skin so I don't mind frazzling them.

I like my chicken legs crispy. Chicken cooks quite quickly and I would never put them in a slow cooker. I agree, highest setting in air fryer.

Well, it depends what you want to achieve doesn’t it. Crispy skin, juicy meat — air fryer. A rich, unctuous casserole — slow cooker.

Lots of chicken legs is such a good problem to have! I'd go slow cooker for a big batch honestly. Pile them in with chopped onions, tinned tomatoes, a bit of smoked paprika, cumin and garlic, about 4 hours on low, then shred the meat off the bone. You've then got enough for wraps, jacket potatoes and sandwiches for days, and legs stay much juicier than breast in the slow cooker.

Chicken doesn’t need slow cooking.
