What to use as cover when proving buns etc. on trays

I'm not a baker by any means but recently have started making rolls and english muffins which need to be proved. The first prove in a bowl I have a cover for the bowl so that's fine. But when they're on baking trays I'm covering with cling film or tin foil and it's such a waste and faff. I'm wondering if I'm missing a trick. I did consider putting the tray inside a pillowcase but not sure if that's suitable or not as it might touch the buns as they rise? I'd really like a reusable solution. Hoping to get some recommendations here, thanks!

I just use a tea towel to cover. Works for me

I just drape a clean tea towel over

Clean tea towel

I thought they had to be covered all over so no air could get in, but if a tea-towel works just as well then that's perfect! I'm so glad I asked now! Thank you all 🙂

You can dampen the tea towel if you don’t want them to dry out, too

For buns, rolls, etc. I use a Nordicware traybake tin which has a plastic lid. It's intended for storage really, but perfect for proving too!

When not using this, I sometimes use a clean binbag, making a sort of tent and tucking it under the tray. Ideally you want something to prop the bag up so it doesn't stick to the bread - something like a tall jar each side.

I use a huge plastic bag that I can put the tray in, and sort of make a tent shape so it doesn't touch the dough. It makes a nice moist atmosphere.

Thanks everyone. I have a (plastic) cake/bun server with a lid that has a handle on it I use it to transport baked stuff - it doesn't get much use! But this might actually be a good alternative use for it. Good idea to use a large bag too. I'll give all these a go and will be so glad to not have to use dreaded cling film any more!

I use a new bin bag - i blow air in so it doesn't touch the dough, and use a bag clip to seal.

Then you can use it as a bin bag afterwards - no waste
