If you’re someone who likes pasta, I mean. Obviously, supermarket for everyday. But for a special occasion?

I watched an tv programme where they blind tasted dried pasta and no-one could tell any difference between the premium brands and the supermarket ones!

My only pasta extravagance is buying fresh pasta on occasion, especially tagliatelle

TeapotTea · 08/10/2026 11:45

I like pasta but use Barilla/De Cecco/Lidl/M&S whatever the occasion. It just depends where I’ve shopped or what’s on offer.
Although for Lasagne specifically I prefer Barilla.

Damn. I didn’t want to know that!
(fresh pasta is definitely worth making, by the way. And the quickest thing ever!)

Yep-I buy all those-except Aldi not Lidl. I’ve just seen some eyewateringly expensive pasta in a very pretentious shop, and I was tempted……

Felicetti is good. I do find the sauce sticks to the more pricier pasta better

real foods stroprazetti is great too

Sprig1 · 08/10/2026 12:28

TkMaxx coloured pasta. They always have a really good selection.

DoubleBusy2026 · 08/10/2026 13:53

Rummo or M&S’ own brand.

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 08/10/2026 14:18

A bit OTT, but has anyone seen green lasagne sheets recently ?

Amyrallis · 08/10/2026 14:22

Garofalo Bio is my favourite. Apparently the paler a dried pasta is, the slower it has been dried (less heat used) which is superior according to an Italian I know.

NestaVipaz · 08/10/2026 14:28

De Cecco everytime. You can 100% tell the difference. There's a silkiness and a satisfying bite to it that you just don't get with cheap pasta (ie it doesn't go mealy and mushy).

Donnaitaliana · 08/10/2026 14:38

De Cecco ogni volta!

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 08/10/2026 14:39

Rummo and Garofolo

Staffygirl · 08/10/2026 15:03

De Cecco, and Barilla is good too.
You can definitely taste the quality.

Jasmin71 · 08/10/2026 15:56

JanuaryLove · 08/10/2026 15:57

Rummo or that one la mollisana or something because it does square spaghetti which is another level of good

Wateredandfed · 09/10/2026 02:32

Rummo
Very dense, solid and delicious.

Fozzleyplum · 09/10/2026 02:58
