Hedgerow jam with gherkins, capers and horseradish in yoghurt.

DH once made a peanut butter, sardine and mint jelly sandwich, as that’s all we had in at the time. It was as gross as it sounds.

Pretendbafta · 29/09/2026 15:24

Kimchi and white chocolate yoghurt

I feel a mixture of cat food and sriracha sauce would be rejected by any sensible being, whether human or feline.

(The cat food has to be kept refrigerated once a can is open - we have can lids specifically to keep it apart from hooman food.

Celery sticks filled with strawberry and strawberry jam, topped with capers and chopped gherkins

sherbetlemonade · 29/09/2026 18:34

Sliced radishes & mulberry jam, with a side of Felix.

FawnDrench · 29/09/2026 19:18

Strawberry Kefir, Branston pickle and leeks.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 29/09/2026 19:31

Butter beans with tomatoes, tuna, olives and beetroot hummus with a topping of Sainte Agur cheese.

MiddleAgedDread · 29/09/2026 19:33

Strawberry yogurt with coriander and pickled onions stuffed into celery sticks. Might top it with some grated Parmesan.

titchy · 29/09/2026 19:33

Marmalade and cheese omelette

Cold macaroni with pet mince and some unidentified brown stuff, might be chutney.

Funny but i typed that and thought the same thing! the beans were dinner this evening (braised with tomatoes and lardons for a bit of smokiness) and the tuna was left over from lunch. I looked at them and though I'd whack them on a jacket potato tomorrow.

WhatDoRacoonsSay · 29/09/2026 19:42

Peach melba cake with anchovies.

😁Mince for the dog, from the pet shop. Claims to be 100% beef. But could be mice, who really knows?

This reminds me of a conversation DH and I had in France once. This French bloke was mystified by Brits who "eat their meat with jam". It took us a while to realise he was talking about turkey with cranberry sauce! But meat with jam, yeah. No wonder they don't rate British food if they think we routinely put jam on our fish, etc.

My late aunt's neighbours in France were utterly mystified by her homemade mincemeat and pickles, especially the former.

They probably thought it had minced meat in with the currants etc, which apparently it did, originally!

Had it with a jacket yesterday for dinner and can confirm was quite nice.
