Quick tea ideas for in-laws when short on time

Got in laws coming round for tea. I’m working all day and won’t get in till 10 minutes before they’ll arrive and will have about 30 minutes to get something ready. Not a ready meal. They’ve both been ill recently and have got sick of ready meals, even nice ones.

not a curry.

it’s a bit cold and miserable here.

thinking steak and chips or baked potatoes (combi microwave).

any ideas?

Pasta is my go to quick meal.

Otherwise, yes, steak or lamb chops. I prefer those served with new potatoes and steamed veg or a salad, which is also quicker and easier.

Fresh pasta & sauce, garlic bread.

I too would have said pasta, even if you use a bought sauce. You could then prep a side salad and have some garlic bread on the side.

Sausages, mash, veg and gravy

Chop/steak/gammon with mash and veg

Pre make a hearty filling home made soup that just needs reheating with some fresh bread.
Pre-made dessert and cheese and biscuits with fruit.

bacon pesto pasta
omelettes with crusty baguettes
baked potatoes with toppings and salad
microwave rice packets with gammon steaks and green beans

I too was going to suggest sausage and mash with veg, onion gravy. Perfect in this weather.

Did steak, oven chips and roast veg. And I had a home made crumble in the freezer that went down very well. Thanks all.
