I need ideas for using the ton of strawberries we picked today

Went a bit mad at the pyo place. Have just done 5 jars of jam but still have loads left. I haven't ever frozen them but seem to think they don't freeze that well?
Really I'd like ideas that could be frozen so we can enjoy them for longer rather than having to have strawberries for breakfast, lunch and tea for the next 7 days!

puree some, chop some, mix together and freeze in batches. Lovely for pouring over ice cream or for adding to smoothies (use from frozen, just chuck in the blender with milk or yoghurt.

And I'd pay you for a jar of homemade strawberry jam! Make more!!

they don't freeze well - come out all mushy.
Trying to think what my parents did with their 8lb a day last year - but other than eating, jam and selling I can't think of anything.

Milkshake

The dds loved it this weekend

Milk, natural yogurt, strawberries (lots) and half a banana

Smoothies? Strawberries, icecream and banana make a great smoothie. Just blend it all together, decant and freeze.

Love2bake · 29/06/2008 22:11

Make Ice-Cream with them.

Smoothies for breakfast.

Thanks for all the ideas. May go down the kbear puree route I think. Am quite proud that the jam seems to have turned out ok as I've never had much success getting it to set before.
