Best supermarket burrata

OMGitsnotgood · 11/09/2026 16:55

i know burrata can vary widely in quality so this isn’t just a ‘where can you buy burrata’ question, rather do any supermarkets stock good quality, tasty versions?

Unexpectedly entertaining tomorrow and I’d like to get my hands on decent burrata (I’ve a back up plan if none of the recommended brands are available.)

The closest specialist cheesemonger is too far with everything I’ve to do tomorrow.
Thanks

The ones from both M and S and from Tesco are solid contenders. Bon eating!

Thank you - any specific info about which ones?

I like the Tesco one drizzled with crunchy chilli oil. Tesco only do one type of Burata as far as I know.

Thanks @RampantIvy. I do my main shop at Tesco so will look there first. Crunchy chilli oil sounds good !

Ive hadcthe one from Aldi and it tasted just like the one I had in Rome.

I usually get the plain Tesco Finest one.

But, similar to Mozzarella, sometimes they just aren't as good as other times but presume that will be because milk is seasonal depending if the beasts are inside or outside and if their diet changes over the colder months.

I got the 3 mini ball ones from Waitrose. It has to be ultra fresh.

They all taste the same to me?

Thanks all - sorry forgot to report back after DH said he didn’t like burrata (not that I can remember his having it ever!) so switched to a Greek salad instead. But I love it and will set about trying the various recommendations myself when he’s out!

Like the sound and look of that, thank you for posting. Have you tried it on other things ?

What do you all do with burrata? I really fancy it but do you share it with a salad or something? Google said something about nectarines and basil and that sounded lush

Yes. I drizzle it on lots of things because I like it so much. There is a hot version as well, but I'm not brave enough to try it.
