Soil in the green bits of spring onion

Any advice on how to get rid of bits of soil deep in the green bits of spring onions? Like the white bit is soil-less, the ends of the green bits are OK, but where the green bits join the white bit, there is quite a bit of soil - do you have to cut all green bits lengthways?

Unless for artistic reasons you want to serve the spring onions whole I would cut off the bulb as far along the green as I could , then slice the remaining green lengthways and wash it thoroughly.

Sorry, but it is not only me, right, there is soil there? I buy them from Tesco, I know there are washed ones in M&S, but they are too dear. Thank you for your advice.

It's what your colander was invented for. Chop or slice or whatever, make sure all bits are separate, swirl in water in colander.
