Fruit/ veg boxes

Any recommendations for a delivery service for fruit and veg , ideally organic and not tied into a subscription?

I've used Riverford Organic on and off for years. I find the produce reliable quality but prefer the winter boxes to the summer ones hence having a break at the moment. I had an offer from Abel and Cole and had a lovely initial box delivered, but when the second one came half of it was mouldy so we never had another.

None of the nationwide ones deliver here, so I bought from a local farm. But I found myself week after week making dishes just to use up the less popular veg (nobody really likes marrows or chard week in week out do they?) so I stopped it and bought supermarket organic as a second best.

Odd box you can cancel or choose your frequency- you get a good choice and easy swaps - I have been really impressed

I really like my Riverford box but it’s a subscription, in that I do t pay separately each week. I can always pause deliveries though.

I may try the riverford as a one off as have a voucher

If you're in or around South London I would highly recommend Sutton Community Farm veg box. For other parts of London I really liked one called Growing Communities

I’m not in London. But maybe I should check out a more local farm to see what they have to offer .
not sure whether it makes a difference but although I’d have one weekly I’m on my own so don’t need a massive box

Absolutely thrilled with my veg box! I spend a fortune on non organic veg at the supermarket as a vegetarian, and I had no idea that veg boxes worked out so reasonable, so I’m really impressed. This lot was £20.

We’ve been having Riverford for nearly a year. We get fortnightly delivery of a box for 2 people. The quality is almost always good and I like that we make an effort to use everything, so eat more and varied veg as a result. The only downside is that the box contents are fixed if you have a subscription box. I like the company’s ethos which is also a factor in keeping the subscription.
Although it’s called a subscription, you can pause or stop at any time.

Ideally I’d use Oddbox but they don’t deliver in our area.

We've used Riverford for about 20 years, I used to get the same old veg week in week put, but a seasonal box has really expanded the range of veg we eat. I plan our week's menu based on what's coming 😊

Their fruit and veg is really tasty, they are employee owned and they have great principles. Fab recipes on their website too.

Thank you for all the input, I discovered a local (10miles) farm that delivers. Good mix of salad fruit and veg. You can list three things you just won’t eat such as beets. They drop at 5-6am and you get a list the day before if there’s anything you don’t want and they swap it out .

I never even thought to check out local farms, what a good idea!
