Put the egg in cold water, bring to boil and once it is boiling cook for one minute, then drain.

I find that fresh eggs (from neighbours chickens) cook really quickly so you might need a few seconds longer for supermarket eggs.

I find this good - eggs and water need to be either both cold or both room temp. Bring to the boil, boil for a minute, let stand for a minute.

I plunge mine in boiling water and take out after four minutes. They are at room temp though.

dh's foolproof method (except for me)

Put egg in cold water, when it reaches boiling point cook for 3 mins exactly, def no more

Get one of these from Lakeland.

LazyLinePainterJane · 26/06/2008 19:39

I cannot do it, they are always too hard.

Dh makes perfect ones (and lords it).

Bring water to boil. Put eggs in. Re-boil, then 3 minutes from boiling.

Works every time. apart from when I do it.

MrsMattie · 26/06/2008 19:40

I do what Mercy's DH does

Twelvelegs · 26/06/2008 19:42

Put egg into boiling water and cook for 5 minutes for a medium egg, 5 1/2 for a large.
