Recipe apps that generate shopping lists

Does anyone use these? I'm so overloaded at the moment and really struggling for inspiration for things to cook and also with meal planning.

I think the supermarkets used to have recipes and you could add ingredients to your basket but haven't seen that recently

So I'm looking at Mob but don't really want to sign up to an expensive app and think I'll get bored of it's recipes.

And then I think there are options where you can save other recipes.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Buy a recipe book from a charity shop. Win/win. The charity gets your money, the book doesn't go to landfill, you get inspiration and it only takes a few seconds to look down a list of ingredients and make a note of what you don't already have in the cupboard.

Once you've done all those recipes, donate it back and get another one.

I use Recipe Keeper. It’s very good and easy to use. You can add recipes from cook books using your phone camera, or directly from websites in most cases. It can automatically generate a meal plan using rules that you set up, or you can choose for yourself or a combination. Then it will do a shopping list for you. The developers are usually very helpful if you contact them. I am not associated with them in any way.

Of course there’s a fair bit of initial set up, but it really does help me.

Thanks that sounds good. I'm a decent cook and have lots of recipe books, I am just dealing with work, ageing parents, struggling teenagers and work on the house. I am completely overwhelmed at the moment

We use an app called Paprika.

You can load in free recipes from the internet and save them for later and you can use it to meal plan and generate shopping lists.

Me and DH both have the app on our phones so we can both see it. Been using it for 5 years or so.

We use a French app called Jow, it's free to use and linked to online shopping sites which I guess is how they make their money. Not sure if it's available in the UK, they have an English language version of their site anyway.
