Pork shoulder steaks

I've just got a bargain pack, & need some inspiration.

I usually make Char Siu or Pulled Pork with them in the slow cooker, great for standby meals in the freezer.

Any ideas please ?

It takes a bit of time but this is delicious and I always use shoulder steaks... can't find the original recipe from Waitrose magazine but virtually identical!

Pulled pork ragu. I don’t follow a recipe as such but just fry off some bacon lardons with onion/celery/carrot then add garlic, add pork in large chunks until golden (or fry off pork first) add some plain flour and cook it out, a good glass of red wine, some quality tinned tomatoes…maybe a stock cube. Slow cook until pork is falling apart, shred it into the sauce.

I just fry them with a good heap of ground black pepper or any other spice I think might be tasty. I like it when they go a bit crispy (like steak, leave it to cook and don't fiddle with it till you flip it once). Tartare sauce is quite nice as a condiment, or you can use traditional apple sauce too.

greek style marinate with olive oil, lemon juice, dried oregano and garlic for as long as possible, pan fried like steak but cooked longer.

Serve with salad and wild rice or cous cous.

I love pork souvlaki with pitta, tzatziki and salad

I live them but just tend to grill them slowly until cooked then turn the grill up as high as possible to brown them .
Top with apple sauce or a thin layer of stuffing and regrill until heated through.

I will be trying some of pps ideas !

They barbecue really well although some supermarkets are guilty of slicing them far too thickly - thinner is better with pork.

I tend to marinate them in Chinese 5 spice powder, ginger, garlic, and soy sauce.

I pour a home made mustard sauce on them

I treat them like steak. Pan fry, serve with peppercorn sauce and loads of mushrooms.
