Defrosting salmon

I took salmon fillets out of the freezer to defrost about 3pm on Sunday, they were still frozen at 5pm on Monday. Would it be safe to cook them for dinner tonight?

In case it isn't obvious, they have been defrosting in the fridge, wrapped in tin foil.

I always cook fish from frozen, and that's about 2 meals per week. Never had an issue. I've always thought it safe to cook fish from frozen?

I cook frozen breaded fish a lot but this was bought fresh, cut into fillets and frozen.

Yes, they will be safe to eat today but wouldn't risk it any later.

I always cook salmon darnes from frozen, they just take a little longer. If you really wanted them thawed I'd pop them in a sink of cold water, they will thaw in no time. I'd prefer to do that than keep them an extra day in fridge.
