I am trying to get crispy jacket potatoes from the airfryer. They come out crispy, then I turn around to get some fillings & they've gone soft!!!!

what am I doing wrong??

Put olive oil on the skins before you cook them.

Did you take them out of the airfryer when they were done or leave them in to keep warm?

Assume you don’t have foil on them?

Don’t put olive oil on. Cook them at 200 degrees until they’re properly crunchy: about forty minutes? Prep the fillings while they’re cooking, and add at the last minute. Don’t let them sit around at a lower temperature: that makes them steam and loose the crunch.

I took them out immediately & no, no foil

You’re welcome 😊

I definitely think the key is just taking them straight out and not letting them soften in steam. I tend to microwave for 7 mins (small / 2 pots) up to 12mins (larger / up to 4) and then air fry on high temp for 10mins or so and they come out perfect. I score each potato around the middle.

agree - I think I was under-airfrying them. I'm going for about 18-20 mins which is making them wonderfully crunchy!

Rub oil and salt on the skins. The salt dries them out so they crisp up even more.
