...and it seems like such a waste not to make something. Anyone got any easy-ish tasty recipes? Maybe pickling them? Jam? Chutney?

TIA

crab apple jelly is lovely.

micci25 · 22/06/2008 12:06

yeah, i do! although apple sauce tends to only last a week here anyhow! dp and dd1 love it and smother it on anything or eat it straight from a jar!!

i started making it when i realised how much uneccassry rubbish was in tesco apple sauce! the ingrediant list was a mile long!!

keep it in air tight jar in the fridge!

OverMyDeadBody · 22/06/2008 12:06

apple sauce or a filling for an apple pie (with lots of sugar added!) or some apple and mint jelly, yum!

OverMyDeadBody · 22/06/2008 12:08

I freeze my apple sauce in cubes, then only have to take out as much as i need.

OMDB - love the idea of freezing it. And we're due to buy a freezer too.

have also got tons of strawberries in the garden at the mo - maybe strawberry and apple puree...

that sounds nice.

You can of course just fill containers with the strawberries and freeze them too.

LOL - my brain just read the post as 'what to do with 100s of urine samples'!!!!!!

stewed apple, strawberry and pear pie or just the fruit with cinnamon stirred through and sugar to taste. Yummy!

If a branch had just fallen off my apple tree I would have decided that the apples are too unripe for anything, even jelly making. Sorry. I normally work on the presumption that, particularly on a cooking apple, there is no chance of any worthwhile apples before the blackberries are ripe - and even then the blackberries often have a 2 week start before the apples start dropping...
