Bit early for butternut squash if you don't want food miles though isn't it?

policywonk · 21/06/2008 17:34

I read somewhere that the food miles thing can sometimes be offset by the fact that food grown in developing countries tends to be grown in a much less carbon-intensive manner (less fertiliser, less mechanisation, less artificial light and heat), so buying something from further away isn't always the wrong choice. They should put carbon measures (including transport) on the packaging - save us all scratching our heads.
