Bird & Blend tea.

Dunno where to stick this, but I was musing earlier. I like their tea, but anything with a black tea base doesn't taste like tea at all. It's so overwhelmed by whatever else is in it. I've also had a plain black tea from them and that didn't taste of much either. Twinings English Breakfast, in comparison, is really strong. Has anyone else noticed this or have my taste buds been ruined by years of drinking rooibos tea?

I prefer Hebden Tea of York. I don’t feel that Bird and Blend are serious Tea Merchants, whereas I’ve been in to the Hebden shop and spoken to a very nice guy who was very knowledgeable and helped me find some wonderful teas. I’m a bit of a tea nerd.

I used to really like the Bird and Blend herbal teas but then I bought one and it had sweetener in it and I was so annoyed I've not shopped there again.

I definitely avoid the ones with stevia

I like most of their others but I'm in it for the flavours. The chocolate digestive, for example, tastes very much like chocolate digestives, but happens to have black tea in too.

I crave novelty and will drink on average 5 different kinds a day. If I didn't have bird and blend I would be drinking silly cake flavoured tea from other frivolous tea places.

I do like Bird and Blend but I know what you mean. I mainly use them for non caffeine fruit blends now.
Try Imperial Teas of Lincoln been going years and super knowledgeable.

@EveryKneeShallBow Ooh, I'm a tea nerd too! I haven't heard of that brand, so I'll check them out. Grin Thank you!

@Mithral I don't mind stevia, but I don't know why it's needed! I add honey or brown sugar to drinks if I think they need sweetening, some fruit teas can be quite tart, for example.

@SuperLoudPoppingAction I like you! I have a cupboard full of different teas. I like looking in Eastern European shops, as they sometimes have a huge variety. I went in one such shop in Huntingdon in April and came out with eight boxes of teabags! 😅

@ranoutofquinoaandprosecco Never heard of them either! So thank you for the recommendation. Smile

As well as the Polish shop (which does indeed have amazing teas - I'm going to actual Poland this summer and I'm so excited. Flavoured tea is my main souvenir when on holiday) there's a brand called Nordqvist that makes brilliant flavours if you ever see it.
They make a moomin advent calendar of tea. It is fab.

Snail and Rabbit is my guilty tea pleasure after a friend bought me some for a gift. I haven’t had the plain black teas but the herbals and fruits are lovely and nicely strong, as are the black tea flavoured blends I’ve tried. They have a massive variety. I tend to find B&B teas too sweet (but I’m a sucker for some of their matcha flavours which are also very sweet, go figure!)

SapphireSeptember · 14/05/2026 14:34

@SuperLoudPoppingAction Ooh, have fun in Poland! Please come back and tell us about your tea adventures if you want to. 😁 I've gone and looked at their website, the Moomin tea looks awesome!

@ThisTimeWillBeDifferent Ooh, another brand to have a look at! Thank you. 😊 I wonder if it's because matcha is quite bitter so the sweetness doesn't overpower you?
