I always seem to go between roast beef, roast chicken or gammon joint ! Sometimes it’s pork and leg of lamb and sometimes it’s steak pie
Hit me with your suggestions as fed up with the same old same old.

Do you want to stick with the roast dinner theme? If so we love toad in the home or just good old bangers and mash.
Or do you want something completely different?

Toad in the hole
Marry Me Chicken
Roast duck
Could you vary the roast meat - so do Indian spices on the chicken, bombay potatoes they type of thing?
Spaghetti bolognaise
Lasagna

Sunday roast is the one meal I don't even have to think about.
Beef, pork, lamb, chicken, duck .
So the same meal every 5 weeks , how bad or boring is that ?

Paprika roast chicken. Absolutely lovely, minimal effort and cooked in one tin.
A couple of amendments to this recipe, we use a LOT more smoked paprika (easily a couple of tablespoons), put the chorizo beneath the veg so it doesn't burn when cooking and give the veg 20 minutes in the oven after you take the chicken out to give it the chance to crisp up. If you have leftover veg it heats up great in the microwave the next day.

I'm doing a tray of roast Mediterranean veg with chicken breasts and sweet potatoes. Because it's 1. Easy peasy and 2. I have a load of veggies to use up.

We’re having calamari and paella on the bbq tomorrow. I’ll work some asparagus in somewhere too, probably a side with tapenade or olive oil and lemon. Kids are requesting patatas bravas too but inhibits too much with rice.

Autumn/Winter Sunday dinners here tend to be

Roast
Cottage pie
Sausage & mash
Toad in the hole
Pork chops or saltimbocca, garlic mash
Pies, roast potatoes or mash
Curry

with vegetarian/fish versions for the non-meat eaters

Spring/summer menus are a bit different - but always curry!

ManyATrueWord · 26/04/2026 14:57

Leg of lamb done with anchovies is a new addition for us. It was awesome!

SpiceGhoul · 26/04/2026 15:04

I really like chicken/turkey & stuffing meatballs as an easier/quicker Sunday dinner, I'll usually have them with the roast potatoes and my favourite creamy parmesan cabbage and leeks.
