Using cream cheese instead of ricotta in spinach canelloni

Has anyone tried using soft cream cheese instead of ricotta and will it turn out okay? I've got a tub of soft cheese to use up. Some will go in the carrot cake icing and I was thinking of using the other half for spinach and ricotta canelloni.

I'm sure someone mentioned on a thread earlier today that they use it to make a sauce with spinach.

Sorry I can't find the thread now, I'm sure I didn't imagine it

Thanks. I think I'll experiment anyway, can't be bothered to take a trip to Sainsbury's just for the sake of 1 ingredient.
