Beef brisket in the slow cooker for the first time - HELP!

So I have a beef brisket for tomorrow's dinner. First time cooking one. I am going to do it in the slow cooker and cook it all day.

Do I need to trim the fat off it first or put it in as it is?

Do I need to sear it before putting it in the slow cooker?

Should I put it on high, or low, and for how long?

Thanks for any brisket cooking tips you can give me.

Sit it on some chopped onions and chopped up carrots. Put a couple of oxos in a jug and some boiling water to make some stock. Leave the fat on, chuck some thyme on it and pour the stock in until it comes half way up the joint. Put it on low for 8 hours.

I would do exactly as above but also sear it first.
I have beef brisket tomorrow too!

Less stock than above. A quarter way up the beef is more than enough. I would sear it first and add a lot of pepper with the stock

Never cook brisket any other way.
Put a layer of chunks of onion and carrots on the bottom, place joint on top. Add one glass red wine and same of stock.
Then ignore for 8 -12 hours on low.
Liquidise the stock and vegetables for gravy.
Enjoy!

Thank you so much for this.

Looking forward to doing it 😊

Thanks all.

I have come to look at it tonight and seen some fat on and was unsure whether I should be trying to get it off. Seems not, which is good for me, less work! 😂

I think I may sear it first, as one poster above suggested.

Will let you know how it goes. 😋

Sear it if your bothered about colour. Can look a bit grey otherwise.
