Family dinners with noodles?

Can anyone recommend any family dinners with noodles? I have a 1yo and a 5yo who both really like noodles, the only noodle meals I’ve given them are green Thai curry and red Thai curry (mild versions anyway & put in a lot less spice), I have given the 5yo stir fry with sweet & sour sauce before and she absolutely hates it.

We do also have to be fairly mindful of salt because of our 1yo

Would really appreciate some suggestions

Pad Thai

We have the gousto crispy tofu coconut noodles, they were delicious! Would they go for noodle-adjacent spaghetti? That opens up a larger framework of standard meals (spaghetti meatballs, carbonara, creamy pesto) etc

Dry Fried Noodles are good

Mine like chicken and broccoli in a teriyaki sauce. Or belly pork served with noodles. They are not fans of sweet and sour either!

Dan Dan noodles
satay noodles
pho
pad Thai
ramen

we love noodles but I cannot stand those sticky sachets

Chicken noodle soup. Really easy.

Stir fry. Kids like teriyaki sauce here. Can put fried egg ontop.

Just stir fry any suitable veg - mushrooms, carrots, broccoli, peppers, bean sprouts, etc., then add some protein such as chicken. It doesn't need to be a specific recipe.

I'd add soy sauce, but obviously that's very salty.

I do a stir fry with baby sweetcorn, mangetout, peppers, spring onions. Teriyaki sauce and noodles. I had a salmon steak (cooked separately) for ds and me as dd hates it. It’s one of a small member of meals we all eat together!

I don’t add any salt, just stir fry the veg and add noodles. I use a small amount of teriyaki sauce (like the marinade, not the pre-made sauce). Or just stir dry the veg and add the sauce after the 1 yr olds.

My kids love a little bit of oyster sauce and I use low salt soy in my stir fries. Add whatever veggies & protein. Can use mushroom sauce too. I keep it simple for the kids. Can use different types of noodles too.
I add crispy chilli oil too my own plate if i need a kick.

Any of the recipe tin ones - just put noodle in the search box!

my kids favourite is the salmon and teriyaki one. You can adjust the recipe to reduce any salt in there eg low salt soy sauce and no salt stock

Cold Sesame Noodles are amazing too! simplegraytshirt.com/simple-sesame-noodles/

I usually do take away style - so I do chow mein style noodles and then a separate stir fry dish (and prawn crackers) . The kids can just have the noodles if the stir fry is ‘too spicy’. If the dishes are all ‘help
yourself’ in the middle
of the table, then I find my fussy youngest will usually be prepared to have a taste of most things.

sweet chilli salmon with noodles also goes down well. Then I usually do
some stir fried pak Choi on the side ass my
youngest isn’t keen.

Mie Goreng, for kids you'll have to cut down on the garlic and chilli, and use low salt soy sauce. Incredibly quick to make, once you've cooked the noodles and done all the chopping.

We all love the “dry noodles” from the Taiwanese restaurant Din Tai Fung. Simple soy sauce and sesame oil flavour. Would love to try to make them at home. If anyone has the recipe I would be most grateful :)

There’s a BBC Good Food recipe called crispy chilli turkey noodles we often have - other sites have posted it , lends itself to any mince and heat can be reduced as needed , it’s really tasty

Pad See Ew
Char Kway Teow
Beef Ho Fun

Ramen/pho/noodle soup
something with satay sauce?
Would use low sodium soy sauce

fashionqueen0123 · 27/04/2026 19:03

Mine love them too.
The easiest is to pan fry some salmon and put it on top of some noodles and serve with peas and sweetcorn. If kids like sauce chuck some sweet chill on top.

My eldest likes to cook noodles, drain. Put in a pan with hot oil, put in some soy sauce and bean sprouts.

Also you can have them with gyozas. My kids love these!
