I’m after a great recipe for a chocolate tray bake cake. I prefer the one layer, rather than Victoria sponge 2 layer type. Ideally something fairly simple to make, which doesn’t need loads of expensive ingredients. Prefer something brownie / fudgy, but not something really heavy / dense. I’ve tried loads of different ones over the years, and they look great, but cost a lot to make and the after the first day tend to not taste as great. Any recommendations?
I make a chocolate cake a couple of times a year, as only me and DD like it. I just made this James Martin one for DD’s birthday.
it was still really wet on the skewer after 50mins, so I left I another 5 as suggested. All seemed good, but by the morning it was as heavy as a brick, it could be used as a weapon 🤦🏻♀️😂 still tasted great, fudgy in middle, but it’s quite dense and drying out on edges.
anybody know how it would work if I added melted chocolate to an old fashioned vanilla school cake recipe I make?
