Do you ever feel stuck on what to cook? What do you usually do in that moment, and what would make it easier for you?

Get a takeaway!

All the time. It's why I meal plan once a week so I know I've got things in the fridge to make the things I've planned. I only have to make decisions once a week, rather than every single night.

Sources for ideas to put on those meal plans include the meal plan threads on here, cookbooks, instagram, various blogs and websites whose recipes I know and trust.

Egg chips and beans usually.

I’m another meal planner, it’s the one good thing you come out of Covid for me.

We spend less, waste less and tend not to repeat the same meals.

I go Thursday to Thursday this weeks menus is, Thai chicken and red pepper curry, fish and chips (homemade),Steak, salad and new potatoes, Roast chicken, veg etc, homemade soup and chicken sandwiches (homemade bread), marry me chicken, mushroom omelettes and soup.

We have at least one fish night, a veggie night and a leftover night.

A wrap or takeaway.

I play Ready, Steady, Cook. I look at the ingredients I have available, pick three and type them into the search bar followed by the word ‘recipe’. I usually get some inspiration from what the internet throws back at me.

frost8bite · 30/03/2026 23:13

Process of elimination. What were the last few meals? Not that. I think I just gave myself away that we eat the same foods on a loop.

A while ago I got fed up of that feeling, but also of always falling back on the same few things. So I wrote a long list of all the things we like to eat, divided into categories like pasta, rice, stews, pastry, and refer to it when I’m stuck for ideas.

I plan a weekly menu but sometimes leave a day free. Then it’s usually something from M&S or a toastie 😍

Check what meat/veg I have in the fridge/freezer and google. Eg- chicken thigh and new potato recipes, pork mince recipes, pasta using XYZ recipes etc.
