As I kid I used to make them with just chocolate and cornflakes, but so many recipes say butter and golden syrup too? How do you make yours?

Cocoa, icing sugar, butter, golden syrup. Boil it a bit and it makes the best cornflake cakes ever, gooey and sticky and chocolatey.

@Ineffable23 that sounds so nice, thanks!

I don't like them gooey and sticky. I like them chocolatey and crunchy.

For chocolately and crunchy I'd use melted chocolate with butter. For gooey I'd add butter and golden syrup (and sometimes melted marshmallows).

I'm allergic to cocoa powder though, so I don't use that.

Yeah just chocolate for me. Healthier too. Already sweet enough.

I do them with Mars bars. Sooooo good

Just cornflakes and chocolate. They are much nicer when they’re hard and crispy! 😁

I just melt chocolate and stir the cornflakes or rice krispies in always done it this way

Cocoa and golden syrup, makes them dark sticky and shiny, also use Rice Krispies instead of cornflakes. Milk chocolate sets too hard and is too sickly sweet.

Thanks everyone! I have chocolate and cornflakes in the cupboard (mini eggs too) so will probably just stick with what I know for now 😃
great to read the different varieties though, depending on whether you prefer them gooey or crunchy 😄
