Going to make a chicken curry, but really would like some suggestions for a great starter and authentic Indian desserts please.

Kheer is absolutely amazing. Basically Indian rice pudding with nuts and rose water and cardamom. A hug in a bowl.

Poppadoms and chutney/yogurt? Kachumber?

If it were me cooking the chicken curry, I'd get coconut sorbet/icecream and mango sorbet for dessert.

Poppadoms and chutney. Another curry to go alongside, we usually have three! Eg lentil, okra and chicken . Or lentil one and egg one. Don't bother with pudding, too full. Maybe Mango sorbet as mentioned.

Pakoras/bhajis for starters? Surprisingly easy to make.

Kulfi for dessert, again easy.

Mango kulfi or kheer for dessert. For starters make samosas but if you don’t want to deep fry use filo pastry and bake.

I must admit though I don’t bother with a starter but make 3-4 different curries plus rice, roti, raita etc

I know you asked for authentic but a really nice desert after a rich and spicy meal is pineapple with mint sugar. It’s a Jamie recipe but basically a plate of sliced fresh pineapple , bash uo
some fresh mint with some sugar and sprinkle over. It’s much nicer than it sounds.
for starters I’d do home made samosa with a few chutneys , bit of a faff but you can make in advance and make loads so some for the freezer.
or bhajees easier, onion and aubergine are nice

My sister-in-law always buys us this carrot pudding which we all can’t get enough of called gajar halwa. It’s soooooo good.

We don’t really have starters when we do dinner at theirs, we tend to just have lots of sides like roti, dahl and bhajis and these incredible potato bites her mum makes (can’t remember the name!) 🤤🤤
