Light hearted - renaming the same meal

My DD complained last week when I did a vegetable tray bake with halloumi. The rest of us enjoyed it I had added some sweet chilli garlic etc and it was tasty. But she said she’s hates a tray bake.

so last night I did chargrilled vegetables with halloumi, same meal, exactly the same. Her response was “‘that was so good, is eat that every week, ditch the tray bake idea “ 😂😂😂 honestly 🙄

when the children were little I would make bubble and squeak with cheese in (my mums idea of corn beef hash for vegetarians ) they complained, so I shaped into round patties and called them veggie burgers, they loved them still do.

it really is in the wording isn’t it

I word my DS's food to make it more appealing sometimes. Potato lattices are crissy crossy chips, cheese, philidelphia and courgette pitta pizza is cheese and cheese and cheese pizza. Halloumi is squeaky cheese.

As long as they eat it that's the main thing!

My DS wouldn't eat liver, but loved elephant's ears !
Also carpet pasta. At Gran's, her ragu did look like the ghastly 1960's carpet.

Quite a few of the meals in my house are called 'beans and rice'. This also covers chickpeas.

for a while all meat was ‘brown chicken’ when my daughter was small. I am very careful about how I describe food to my kids, it makes a massive difference!

When my children were young I would make a pot of mince/tomato sauce/veg etc. If we had it with rice it was "chilli" and if we had it with spaghetti it was "bolognese"
