What are these seeds?

Golden flaxseed to me.

The recipe uses sesame seeds so I'd guess it's those.

My sesame seeds are much smaller and paler (m&s), i wonder why?

You need to toast them a little first in a dry pan.

Maybe your ones are further away?

As @Egglio says toasting them gives them a bit of colour/enhances the flavour.
