If I decided I never wanted to turn the cooker on again (a perfectly reasonable wish) what could we eat?

I'm sick of the sight of the cooker.
Tell me your favourite salads. The ones that fill you up and children love. Or anything that doesn't involve saucepans.
Thanks in advance.

Why do you dislike your cooker? [curious]

nkf · 15/06/2008 14:14

Nothing wrong with the cooker. Rather a handsome item actually. It's just I have to cook on it. And I'm sick of cooking.

tomato/sweetcorn/swiss cheese with ham

tomato/onion/feta/cucumber/croutons with sardines

celery/green apples/sultanas/walnuts/blue cheese

grated carrots/shredded white cabbage/coriander leaves/peanuts/frozen cooked prawns defrosted in microwave.

Use your oven to make
-brushetta type open sandwiches (ie:ham/tomato/cheese)
-crustless quiche (beat 4 eggs/1/2 cup single cream/2tbsp cornflour/grated cheese and whatever else you fancy - cook 20mn in hot oven)

yes ! oh and anchovies and olives - I forgot ! capers would be nice too - serve with nice bread or pitta - it's a standard at our house !

Like the sound of the celery, walnut combination.

mmm, yes, that's like a waldorf salad a bit - and I love blue cheese dressing !

rocket/mixed leaves, halved baby plum tomatoes, cucumber & sliced avocado with any combo of ham, grated mozzarella/cheddar, chicken or prawns - whatever you've got going in the fridge, basically, a kind of chef's salad thingy. Dressed only with avocado oil, which is chuffin' gorgeous!

Mange-tout, celery, sliced peppers, mushrooms, broccoli spears with either a pile of hummus, tsatsiki or guacamole in the middle of it all - I've been eating a lot of raw veg lately and it's surprisingly (to me at least) tasty!

"Dominoes Pizza!"

All good ideas. Will disconnect the cooke and go raw foodie.

Couscous salad.

Pour boiling water over couscous and leave for 5 mins.

Add a mixture of whatever you like!
