Nandos at home

mismomary · 30/01/2026 13:58

It's Friday night and I always plan an actual meal for us and the teens to actually sit down and eat. Doesn't happen the rest of the week for various reasons.

Tonight I am thinking of making a Nandos feast. I am not a regular at Nandos but I know the DC (2 x teens) love it. And I know its chicken, sides and salads. I have to shop for this at 3pm so only an hour.... what should I put in my feast? Grateful for any ideas.

Sainsbury’s do preseasoned piri piri chicken fillets. You could make spicy rice, corn on the cob or the mint chilli peas. Chips + you can buy peri salt

VacayDreamer · 30/01/2026 14:01

Coleslaw
corn on the cob
nandos hot sauce of course!
fries
wraps, maybe
a precooked roast chicken or legs from the hot counter

You can buy Nandos rubs and sauces in supermarkets. Don’t forget the peri salt for the chips.
Halloumi or garlic bread would probably be a popular side.

Chicken wings and a bottle of medium peri peri sauce to marinade them in. Peri peri salt and chips. Corn on the cob.

Nancylancy · 30/01/2026 14:02

I'd probably make it really easy and just get a load of chicken drumsticks or a large whole chicken, I think you can purchase the actual nandos sauces in supermarkets can't you? Then I'd do some salad and some oven chips or make a load of potato wedges.
The corn on the cob sounds good too like PP said! I don't really know what else you'd get at nandos - maybe someone else will be along for the posh salad stuff!

Thank you so much - my shopping list has started!

My relative did a recipe thing on TikTok during covid about making a Nando's at home and got over 20,000 followers within a few days! It's probably still on there somewhere.

Room for a little one?!

littlemisssunshine247 · 30/01/2026 16:09

Did you forget about Perinaise?! 😱

mismomary · 30/01/2026 16:47

Well shopping done! High point for me was discovering that peri peri salt actually exists and is to be found at Booths.

Perinaise is a constant in our house. But I wasn't going to put it on the feast table.... to me it is excellent with toasties. But ok on the table it will go.

I could find wings but have drumsticks, thighs, and a couple of breasts. No red peppers either. Tsk. But bought something that looks vaguely similar and calls itself a 'sweet bite'.

Peri salt is the best. I think I’m addicted.

EarlofShrewsbury · 30/01/2026 22:29

We do fake nandos.

We call it Fauxnandos. 😁

PyongyangKipperbang · 30/01/2026 22:30

This is always served in our house with the song "Here is dinner, it's faux Nandos"! Silly but makes us laugh! I am addicted to peri salt too.

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 30/01/2026 23:42

Too late for today but this recipe is the business. Known as fake Nandos in our house and super quick to mix up the marinade.

Peri Peri Chicken (Nando’s Copycat) - Easy Peasy Foodie https://share.google/jQtwC43G6XZ5WK4U9

I either do it with chicken thighs or boneless chicken thighs.
We have it with chips, coleslaw, green salad and sometimes corn on the cob. In the summer it's fantastic on the barbecue too.

BlackCat14 · 01/02/2026 19:49

We love doing nandos at home.., we usually marinade some chicken in the garlic Nando’s sauce for a couple of hours. Cook up some halloumi as well and serve with wraps, lettuce, home made chilli jam (my friend mashes it For us) and spicy rice (a packet one, to keep things nice and easy!). We also pour the lemon and herb dressing on our plates as a dip. I wish I was having this right now!
