Herb and spice jar storage

DH likes to cook from recipes and has every jar going but the storage is becoming a problem. We have 3 boxes in the cupboard, and they are piled on top as well. How do you all store yours if you have multiple jars?

We have pullout drawers in our kitchen. But spice storage is just like tuppawear storage. You'll never solve this.

I have a rack with four rows that can either be fixed to the wall or the inside of a cupboard door
.it's a great space saver!

In a drawer. Most spices have a sticker on the lid with their name.

Mine lie flat in a hidden inside drawer directly below the hob. Easy access, but out of sight.

I’ve solved it. Mine are in the big hidden drawer under my hob. I have loads and got space to spare, all have labels on the lid. So easy when cooking.

A drawer is the way to go.

InLoveWithAI · 13/01/2026 16:31

Most used ones on to the side, others in the drawers.

Mine are in a drawer and are all decanted into larger pots as we buy large bags of spices rather than from the supermarket.

When we did have the supermarket ones they were laid down in the same drawer in a rack from Ikea, similar to this but we had an entire 60cm wide drawer of them. We bake and cook from scratch a lot.

We've got a drawer too, it's brilliant but since DS moved back home from uni and brought his home it's not enough so we have a basket in a cupboard too. Also holds one or two of the taller ones that don't fit in the drawer - the drawer is full of the short stubby Sainsburys type ones with lid labels.

Evicted tea towels - use top drawer. It's full now 😀

I used to have a lovely 90cm flat drawer. It was organised thematically. It was beautiful. We now have labelled Tupperware, which is okay but not as good.

User74939590 · 13/01/2026 17:33

1.2m wide drawer, lying down and you can see all the labels. In my ADHD brain can manage this!

SpaceOP · 13/01/2026 18:33

I have a 16 jar holder on the counter for the herbs and spices I use the most - I spent WAY too long thinking about what those 16 were so that I could be less irritated by the need to search for the things I need.

The rest are kept in a cpboard. I'd have a drawer if I'd had the space and at some point, there is one small cupboard I might transform into a mini pantry for herbs/spices in one section.

@PoemsForTea Hmm I wonder if we are related?

Previously, I had spice jars standing up in a large, tupperware container and had sticky labels on the lids to know what was inside. I now have a drawer for the jars. I still have a sealed, plastic tub for mainly Indian spices and herbs in packets.
(Starting to think I might have too many herbs and spices)😬

Wr are same 😆

I have large jars for my spices as I use larger amounts when batch cooking - I save the French jam jars (can’t remember the brand) and salsa jars - they are stackable- ish. They are balanced precariously in a cupboard but I need a better option.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 15/01/2026 23:21

I do what mum does. Jam jars with spices in all corralled into large Tupperware.
Indian spices, herbs, English all divided so I know which one to
pull out.

HeddaGarbled · 15/01/2026 23:31

Mine are standing up, in an old cutlery organiser, in a drawer, in alphabetical order.

PersephoneParlormaid · 16/01/2026 06:41

Thanks all. I’ll have a look through your recommendations

I have a shelf on either side of the hob, between the worktop and wall units. Spices live on one side; condiments and spreads live on the other side.
