The most beautiful pasta in the world!?

I was given this exotic pasta (more expensive than I'd ever buy myself), which I think is termed “mother-in-law’s tongue,” which would be odd, to say the least.

It’s the most gorgeous pasta I’ve ever seen: long thick wide ribbons with colored green, orange, and purplish stripes running lengthwise, with tiny scalloped edges running along the length. Obviously, there shouldn’t be any sauce to mask that, so I just sauteed slivered garlic with a handful of slivered ham. It was like eating an artwork. Unfortunately, there were problems, notably that all the ham ended up on the bottom, but still a good try.

Here's what it looks like:

Have you never been in the TKMaxx food section, OP? 😬

Purpleandredandyellow · 09/01/2026 20:43

Very pretty! I’ve never seen it before!

ChocoChocoLatte · 09/01/2026 20:43

TKMAXX

PennyLaneisinmyheartandmysoul · 09/01/2026 20:50

It reminds me of the fizzy sweet rainbow belts but yes, Tk maxx!

Kitterkitkat · 09/01/2026 20:59

That is pretty. I haven't been to TKMaxx in years, might do on Sunday! Not sure how to get there...

Is that related to T J Maxx?

Coloured pastas like this are usually found heavily discounted in the TJ Maxx food section, yes

Oh, I only look at their sale items - plus which not all stores carry the same thing.

It's so expensive I wouldn't even buy it on sale, probably.

In the U.S. it's T J Maxx, and it's one of a few stores owned by the same corporation. Home Goods is another. Maxx has more clothing.

TK Maxx is the uk equivalent of TJ Maxx

a discount store. It’s cheap

CurlewKate · 10/01/2026 22:41

It’s Lingua della Suocera (don’t think there’s an h after the c but there might be!) And yes, TKMaxx.

YesSirICanNameChange · 10/01/2026 22:55

T K Max has a pasta section?! I have been underestimating our local one by ignoring it, clearly.

soupyspoon · 10/01/2026 23:10

Yep, TK Maxx, I didnt think anyone actually bought that stuff

Ive been stung a few times in their foodie section, you think its a bargain but its still really expensive stuff and then sometimes its not very nice.

The olives are always good but nothing else really

Kitterkitkat · 11/01/2026 09:34

I got a box of Godiva chocs there once, they were gorgeous

CurlewKate · 11/01/2026 10:35

Also coffee beans.

Crikeyalmighty · 11/01/2026 10:38

I use our TK Maxx a lot, mainly handbags and sunglasses but I’ve had the odd really good beauty item in there too - foreign brands mainly that I’ve never heard of , but actually were really nice
